The Most Expensive Blowjob Ever

The law can be cruel, particularly when it comes to sex. Particularly when it comes to minors and sex, and that tricky little thing called the age of consent. Exact laws vary from state to state, but it’s entirely possible to have a seemingly legal and consensual act of sex turn out to be totally illegal (and possibly something that’ll land you in jail).

Take the case of Genarlow Wilson, who’s currently serving 10 years in prison (without possibility of parole), all because of a single blowjob he received at the age of 17. His crime? His fellater happened to be 15 years old, and thus legally incapable of consenting to sex (oh, and it was kinda stupid for him to get caught on tape getting head, but that’s another story entirely). On the plus side, some investors have taken pity on Wilson, rallying together to post a $1 million bond to free him from prison while his appeal is pending.

$1 million is a lot of money. How much money, exactly? Well, to give you an idea, here’s a list of some things that Genarlow Wilson could have spent that money on that would have gotten him off without sending him to jail:

Yeah, that’s a lot of money.

I’ve heard of this case before. It was a different spin though – he was videotaped both recieving a blowjob from the 15-yr-old girl as well as intercourse with another girl who seemed to be incapacitated from alcohol. He was acquitied for the charge of rape, and so (this is hearsay) he was sentenced with a much higher sentence than necessary for the lesser charge. It’s kind of a complicated case. I don’t think one should be punished for a crime that one wasn’t found guilty of – definite miscarriage of justice. I do find it depressing how difficult it is to get a conviction of rape in cases like these, where there may even be a videotape of activities which are by definition non-consensual, like sex with an incapacitated/passed out person. And there probably was a racist angle as well. Like I said, complicated.
Age of consent laws usually have some sort of exception clause for people who have only a few years between them. From my quick googling, it looks as though Georgia has also fixed its laws regarding the sodomy issue. Which is a plus.
