There’s some saying about how if you wait around long enough, everything repeats itself. That’s kinda how Boinkology felt when we heard this news: eHarmony is on the verge of launching a new feature that allows its users to… talk on the phone with one another.
Okay, not quite on the phone, because it’s voice-over-IP (you know, like Skype), which gives users the ability to talk on the phone without giving out their phone number (or any contact information at all, actually). So it’s like talking on the phone… with all the super secrecy of the Internet. Brilliant.
But seriously: isn’t the whole point of the Internet that you don’t have to use the phone? Cause we hate talking on the phone (unless we’re talking to our moms). So the idea of having SexyDaddy4U call us up over the Internets to chat about, you know, stuff doesn’t actually seem to appealing. We’d rather stick to ignorable, easily deletable, text.
See also: eHarmony’s not the first site to incorporate this feature. I’m In Like With You (and probably a million other places) beat them to it.
