In a wave of webstalgia, Boinkology was reminded of the existence of the xkcd date selector: an application that allowed visitors to submit ideas for awesome dates, and then scientifically select the top submissions (through science, duh).

When we went to check out said selector, we were very sad to see that it had been taken down. However, all was not lost: thanks to the Wayback Machine, we were able to find the final list of top ideas. And what ideas they are!

Here are some of our favorites:

• Pretend you’ve never met, then loudly try out lame pickup lines in a swanky bar. Act like they worked.
• Create photo evidence suggesting that you went on an adventure that didn’t really happen.
• Write a piece of fiction together. Outside at a cafe. Ask strangers when you get stuck.
• Go to the airport, get the cheapest, soonest departing flight to anywhere when you show up, and stay there for a weekend.
