So men don’t want to look at other naked men, right? (Um, sure. We’ll go with that one for now.) Clearly, this poses a problem for people who want to sell underwear to men: how to display the product without (gasp!) showing it on naked men?
Never fear: Danish underwear maven JBS has come up with a solution. Rather than featuring pictures of men wearing men’s underwear (gay!), their ad campaigns feature pictures of women wearing men’s underwear. Or sniffing men’s underwear. While wearing fetishy clothes.
We’re pretty torn on this one. On the one hand, we find the whole concept behind the ad campaign (men can’t look at other men’s bodies!) pretty repellent. On the other hand, we have a soft spot for women in men’s underwear (or sniffing men’s underwear, as the case may be), and these photos are pretty sexy. Apparently, Norwegian consumer association Forbrukerombudet was not so conflicted: they deemed the latest run of ads to be sexist and demeaning to women, and had them banned.
