Accidentally Sexy: A Trip to Ye Olde Hardware Store

Admit it. Sex is everywhere–even places it’s not supposed to be. Irene Kaoru peers into the world of the accidentally sexy.

One thing I despise about bondage is how fidgety it usually becomes. After the usual pre-negotiating and planning involved in any sex or play, there’s rope to buy and coil and uncoil and keep clean and trimmed and untangled and so many knots to learn, not to mention how long they can take to tie if you’re doing something pretty and elaborate.

There is nothing worse than trying to get into a rope bondage scene with an inexperienced top who can’t keep his/her rope straight or screws up their knots. You wouldn’t want that to be you, right? HOW EMBARRASSING.

Clearly I wasn’t cut out for Shibari; I just don’t have the bloody patience. There ARE options, though, for the efficiency-seeking (lazy) bondage enthusiast wannabe. I’m talking, of course, about saran wrap and suction cups.

One of the easiest ways to perform full bondage, saran wrap play is also quite safe and feels neat. You can wrap your partner’s wrists and ankles, their entire arms or legs, or their whole body. A couple of layers of the stuff is amazingly strong, so have fun squirming around the kitchen floor, but be sure to have a pair of safety scissors close by in case of emergencies so your mummy can make a hasty getaway if needed.

Suction cups are another fiendishly pervertible hardware store find. Get the big, strong ones and use them as secure tie points on any tile, ceramic, glass or metal surface, like the fridge, floor, bathtub or window. Ta da! No need to limit your play to the four-poster bed; with heavy duty suction cups like these, you can truss up your lover anywhere in the house, no fancy ropework or expensive St Andrew’s Cross required. These babies will hold 80 pounds and will only set you back 5 bucks.
