BoinkMusic: Andrew Bird

While it may be one of the lesser concerns when preparing to have sex, music can play a role in making or breaking the mood. Of course, if you spend half the evening combing through your vast record collection, and the only sound you’re likely to hear is that of your lover walking out the door.

Boinkology wants you to get laid, so we’re taking the guesswork out and giving you our own handpicked selections of the latest and greatest new tracks to download and get down to. Every Friday, Camille Acey brings you BoinkMusic: music you don’t know, but should definitely be fucking to.

I’m sure we’ve all known the inconvenience of stumbling home after a long night out only to find the house filled with the dulcet tones of our roommate or neighbor busy getting busy. Oftentimes, they’ll have turned up their radio to be courteous and drown out the sound, but in just as many cases it backfires both for the happy couple and the disgruntled roommate. Oh, those halcyon days when the mere opening lines of a Pet Shop Boys track signaled time to grab the ear plugs!). Of course, when we here at Boinkology get lucky we would never be so rude…we only play good music. Here’s another wonderful track to muffle moans and keep everyone happy.

Specimen: Andrew Bird - Imitosis

Description: Andrew Bird is a wonderful and quirky-for-a-reason multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. Imitosis is a gorgeous track, glockenspiel tinkles and violins glide underneath Bird’s rich voice as he recounts the story of a sad scientist. With a chorus refrain of “we are all basically alone”, the song is slightly dark and bleek and slightly unromantic but somehow all-the-more sexy because of it.

Hypothesis: Add this loungey track to your arsenal of sure-fire get it on tunes, and it won’t be long ‘til that special someone’s handing you their Do Me card.
