A recent piece in The Hartford Courant alerted us to the fact that — with the help of candidate selectors like Select Smart and VAJoe — selecting a presidential candidate is becoming more and more like online dating. Since we love online dating, we figured we’d give it a whirl. Turns out, we’re best matched with Mike Gravel: so we did what any good online dater would do, and wrote him an intro letter.
Dear Mike,
How are you? My name is Lux. I’m a sex educator in New York City, and I’m kinda new to this whole “online candidate selection” thing — but I’ve been hearing a lot about how it’s really great (one of my friends picked her Mayor that way!), so I figured I’d give it a try.
Anyway, I was surfing around, and I saw that we have a 95.45% match! Boy, that sure caught my attention. I looked around a little more, and I saw that we have a ton in common: we both went to Columbia (I majored in Urban Studies, how about you?), care about reproductive rights, believe in net neutrality, and want universal health care. That’s so cool!
Also, I see that you’re totally into social networking (omg I love MySpace). You can contact me there, too — I look forward to hearing from you!
