BoinkMusic: Roisin Murphy

While it may be one of the lesser concerns when preparing to have sex, music can play a role in making or breaking the mood. Of course, if you spend half the evening combing through your vast record collection, and the only sound you’re likely to hear is that of your lover walking out the door.

Boinkology wants you to get laid, so we’re taking the guesswork out and giving you our own handpicked selections of the latest and greatest new tracks to download and get down to. Every Friday, Camille Acey brings you BoinkMusic: music you don’t know, but should definitely be fucking to.

While it’s nice to think that we’ll always have the right music going when the time is right, the truth is sometimes you only have a few seconds and must choose quickly. This week’s track was discovered as I hurriedly flicked the channels to something less inappropriate during a recent *ahem* session. It ended up working out so well I had to pause and take a note. Laugh if you will, but I do it for you kids, all for you.

Specimen: Rosin Murphy- Overpowered (EMI)

Description: On this, the title track for her second solo outing, Murphy (formally of Moloko) brings out more of her patently intelligent dance pop. The song features subdued enough electronics that the emotion of her voice and the lyrics can shine through.

Hypothesis: Have this track at the ready for next time you feel that urge, and you may just get overpowered by the mood.
