We’ve been talking about the dating potential of unpersonals — or, um, “social networking sites” — for quite a while now, so it was interesting to see that the concept has finally made its way to the mainstream media. Yes, Virginia, you can find a date on MySpace — even CNN says so!
Turns out, social networking sites are a more “safe and loving” environment, with less misrepresentation than the personals. We’re not totally sure we buy that — but then, we never really thought that online personals unsafe. Or unloving. But hey, that’s just us.
And, of course, no piece on the ins and outs of Internet dating would be complete with out a list of safety tips. But, uh, CNN? Stating that pay sites attract people who are serious about finding someone isn’t a safety tip. We’re just saying, is all.
