If you follow the lives of Jakob Lodwick and Julia Allison (and if you’re within 5 feet of the Internet, it’s a little hard not to), you’re probably aware that as of last week, Jakob — of Connected Ventures and Vimeo fame — is no longer an employee of his company. There’s been a great deal of speculation about what happened: did he quit? Was he fired? Did this somehow involve Julia Allison’s tits?
But we’re not really interested in that. What we find fascinating is this: Julia learned about Jakob’s career change through his blog. In her words:
Dear Jakob, I wish I hadn’t found out you left the company you’ve been with for the last seven years from your blog. Love, Julia
We can sorta see how this might work — it’s relatively apparent that Jakob views his blog as a direct line between his brain and the world, and maybe in all the stress of becoming unemployed, he didn’t even think to contact Julia first. But it’s still a little odd. We know that Jakob and Julia value openness, but are they really so disconnected from one another that the Internet ranks first in the list of who to tell things to?
And, perhaps more importantly: is this how Julia’s going to find out that she and Jakob have broken up?
