Julia Allison Reveals A Little Too Much About Jakob Lodwick

Jakob and Julia may be a thing of the past, but their ability to create drama across the Internet lives on. Just yesterday, while liveblogging her way through the Gawker comments, Julia managed to reveal that Jakob has some psychiatric issues which ultimately may have led to their break up.

Ouch.

We’re neutral on the issue of Jakob’s mental health (hey, some of our best friends are bipolar!), but we’re pretty sure that, if it’s true, it isn’t something he’d want public. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the past year, it’s that the Internet is a public space. Even “private” parts of the Internet, like Facebook — and especially the comments section of Gawker.

There is no such thing as “normal”. All of us have some kind of mental quirk or chemical imbalance. If you don’t believe me, you haven’t been paying attention. So, Mr. Lodwick has a personal issue in regards to how he views the world. Big deal.

Ms. Allison may have, indeed broken up with Mr. Lodwick because of it.

She did not need to tell the entire world about an issue that should not be but is an issue of stigma amongst so many of us.

I wish Mr. Lodwick the best, and I hope he can find someone that will love him for who he is. I hope Ms. Allison can learn from this experience, and make better choices in the future. Indeed, I hope she finds someone to love her for who she is, too.

Have you seen the updated post, wherein she apologizes for “opening a pandora’s box”.

I think at this point in the digital era we’ve gotten to the point where someone trying to do a takeback is just going to seem silly right? I mean, you say it, it goes out there, it’s OUT THERE.

Nice to apologize, but, bringing up your ex’s mental illness in an interview that’s being conducted largely because of your relationship with said ex? And being surprised when people latch onto that? Come on.
