While it may be one of the lesser concerns when preparing to have sex, music can play a role in making or breaking the mood. Of course, if you spend half the evening combing through your vast record collection, and the only sound you’re likely to hear is that of your lover walking out the door.

There’s something about coming home for the holidays that always makes me think about the radical choices I’ve made and how very very far from home I’ve roamed. While I’m happy with the choices I’ve made (many in the name of love), I do like to occasionally sneak a little peek at the alternate world I could have chosen, the world I dwell within on these lazy visits home. This week’s music music hails from my bizarro world where I’d live a sweet simple life meeting friends for brunch at organic diners, reveling in the luxury of having ample local Trader Joe’s locations, and going to see great bands like All My Pretty Ones at house (not overpriced converted lofts!) shows.

Hypothesis: This group is is a gorgeous folk ensemble that make admittedly earnest music. Do or Don’t is a
light and lovely tune with folky guitar, harmonizing, jazzy brush drums, and the occasional sweetly soaring bars of oboe.
