Best Sex Writing 2008

It can be very hard to find intelligent, thoughtful writing about sex and sexuality — that’s one of the main reasons why we started Boinkology. Usually, when sex gets discussed in the media, we’re bombarded with hysteria, misinformation, and more than a few worries about the corruption of children.

So whenever we find an article about sex that’s not like that — an article that’s intelligent and thought provoking, where reason keeps hysteria firmly in check — we get pretty excited. And when we find an entire book filled with smart writing about sex? Well, it takes about five minutes for us to stop screaming with excitement.

Best Sex Writing 2008 (which, full disclosure, includes a piece by Lux) is an excellent collection of thoughtful — and thought-provoking — writing about sex. With essays ranging from Rachel Shukert’s musings on Jewish girls and blowjobs to Trixie Fontaine’s essay on the taboo nature of menstruation porn, this book is must read for anyone who’s had sex, wants to have sex, or knows someone who does.
