Every once in a while I find myself slipping into grumpy old lady mode with music, losing interest in anything new. I go into dusty basements and digging my head in boxes to pull out my cassette tapes and old LPs, content to listen to the oldies, certain nothing worthwhile will ever come out. Two to three months of non-stop Christmas music can make one lose hope, but then – all at once – a track will come along and the snow starts to melt and things seem hopeful again. This week’s track oughta do the trick.

Specimen: Daniel Merriweather – I Think I’m In Love with Her (Allido/J Records)

Description: Ahhh, I cannot say enough good things about the wonderfulness that is Daniel Merriweather, so I will just focus on the goodness of this one track. After the success of his cover of The Smiths’ “Stop Me” last year, Daniel’s original lyrics are finally getting the proper Ronson treatment in this addictive song replete with soulclaps, funky bass, full horns, and Daniel’s irresistibly soulful voice.

Hypothesis: Grab this track (and buy the album when it comes out!) and we think — no, we’re certain – everything will suddenly start to heat up for you.
