Manhattan Real Estate Makes Us Do Crazy Things

If you’re not from New York, you might have been a little confused by yesterday’s story of the porniest Craig’s List ad ever. Why would someone respond to an ad like that? And, more importantly, why would anyone ever think it was a good idea to rent out their living room as a bedroom — even to a cute bisexual girl?

Well, let’s just say that looking for an apartment in Manhattan is a difficult process, and it can make people do crazy things. Don’t believe us? Take a look at this recent New York Times piece, which profiles all the crazy things Manhattan couples do for love housing.

Like move in with a significant other after a scant few weeks of knowing each other. Or break up with someone because they’ve moved out of the neighborhood. Or stay in a bad relationship just so you can hold on to a sweet apartment deal.

Hey, compared to that, this ad almost seems sane! Well, almost.
