Philadelphia: The City of Brotherly Love (For Serious)

Though we grew up in the Philadelphia metro area, and heard a lot of “brotherly love” jokes, we never really thought of it as a particularly gay city.

But apparently we were wrong: if the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (try saying that three times fast) is to be believed, Philadelphia is gay. Very, very gay.

Which is pretty awesome, as far as we’re concerned: we much prefer cities touting their gay friendliness to cities, uh, hating on gays and preventing them from marrying.

Yep… if you want to get your fundamental human rights protected, you better become an economic bloc. Go gay folks! Spend your dollars like you cast your votes.

Capitalism: the cause of (and solution to!) all of life’s little problems.

Seriously, though: part of why Pride became such a big deal is because corporations figured out they could use it to get money out of the gays. Now, again, I prefer gay-friendly corporations to gay-hating corporations… but, you know, still.

See I’ve always thought of Philly as a gay city. Maybe because all of my gay friends live there. I honestly don’t know what came first — them living there or me knowing them.

  • Isil says :

Every gay friendly corporation is owned by a gay hating group.

    Like organic food.

Yeah, im comparing homosexuals to the bestest carrots ever, sue me.
