Every Mixtape is a Love Letter

We’ve always held that mix tapes were an unfortunate casualty of the digital revolution. Sure, mix CDs are easy to make, and theoretically just as good — but half the point of a really good mix tape was the effort someone had to put into it, an effort they were making specifically for you.

Hence our love for this shirt, which artfully sums up our feelings on the dearly departed medium. We recommend buying one for those special nostalgic days — you know, the ones where you’re almost able to convince yourself that high school was a really awesome time.

p.s. We’d ask you all to show your love for Boinkology by making us some rad mix tapes — but who are we kidding? We’d never listen to them. We trashed our tape player ages ago.

  • The Scoot says :

I am such a luddite. I own several working tape players, a MIDI recorder that uses 1.44 mb 3.5″ floppies, and about 200 records and three phonographs.

So, I guess what I’m saying Lux, is that you could listen to my mix tape for you… at my place. Rawr, as it were.

Scoot: that’s brilliant. I can’t wait to find some hot girl, start a conversation about movies, and then say “Why, yes, I’d be happy to lend you my copy of ‘Ernest Rides Again,’ it’s on laserdisk… You don’t? What a shame… hey, *I* know…”

Actually, substitute “Secretary” for “Ernest Rides Again.”
