BoinkMusic: Marisa Nadler

While it may be one of the lesser concerns when preparing to have sex, music can play a role in making or breaking the mood. Of course, if you spend half the evening combing through your vast record collection, and the only sound you’re likely to hear is that of your lover walking out the door.

Boinkology wants you to get laid, so we’re taking the guesswork out and giving you our own handpicked selections of the latest and greatest new tracks to download and get down to. Every Friday, Camille Acey brings you BoinkMusic: music you don’t know, but should definitely be fucking to.

Sometimes it can be maddening how connected everything and everyone is; how many people overlap on your Facebook pages or how your “current” is all too often a friend’s ex. It can sometimes feel like the world is closing in on you. Then, of course, there are the other times when you are in the middle of too much new and you’d do anything to talk to a good old friend. A while ago in the grips of all my new-ness, I found myself nostalgic. So I finally got back into online social networking after a year of reluctance. While I am not absolutely loving it, I must admit there have been a few sorely-needed fuzzy moments and in the midst of all these walks down memory lane, I came across this week’s BoinkMusic.

Specimen: Marisa Nadler – Mexican Summer

Description: Light acoustic and slide guitar slip underneath Nadler’s lovely ethereal voice.

Hypothesis: Place this song in the rotation, and we’re sure you’ll have no problem (re-)connecting.
