With all the porn and prostitution-related celebrity (non)scandals we’ve seen over the past few weeks, well, it’s not surprising that everyone seems to want to talk about sex work.
MobLogic’s Lindsay Campbell heads over to Los Angeles — home of Porn Valley! — to see what the locals think about porn and prostitution, and why two seemingly similar occupations are viewed so differently under the law.
We were under the impression that porn was legal because both parties are paid (or, in some cases, not paid), unlike in prostitution, where one party solicits sex for money from the other. Not that that really makes a difference in our book — but we suppose we can see the legal distinction.
Added bonus: find out whether Angelenos are secretly waiting for their big break in porn. We know we are!
(What, like you’re surprised?)

I’ve never paid for sex, but if I did I’d want to tape so I could watch it later. So if I taped a hooker having sex with me could I call it porn and get away with it? And would I have to pay the girl more? And if so, how much more?
April 3rd, 2008 at 2:12 pmThe real question is, what happens if you pay someone to act the role of a prostitute who stars in a porn movie? I think the universe would fold in on itself.
