We tend to think of birth control more as a concern of the young — but there are plenty of women over forty who are sexually active, still capable of getting pregnant, and more than a little interested in keeping their uteruses (uteri?) baby-free.
Until recently, women over forty had two main birth control options: condoms and sterilization. But now, with new low-dose birth control pills, IUDs, and a hormonal implant called Implanon all on the market, things have changed quite a bit. Which, frankly, we’re quite grateful for. More choices mean more chances to find the product that really works for you — which, when it comes to birth control, is one of the most important things.
And, um, also, we’re really glad that the scientists got on this one before we turned forty. Now how about that male birth control pill?
