Webbies Also Recognize Sex Blogs

We were pleased to learn that our friends over at Daily Bedpost have been selected as an official honoree in the Blog Culture/Personal category of this year’s Webby Awards.

First Time, now the Webbies — man, the Bloggies are just looking more and more behind the times.

Er, without wanting to blow my own trumpet or anything, my blog won the Best British Weblog at the Bloggies in both 2006 and 2007 – which is two years before Time and the Webbys got on the bandwagon.

Whilst my blog may not have won in a ‘Best Sexblog’ category (and there is a very good argument for the need for one at all these awards, including the Bloggies: something I spoke with its founder Nikolai Nolan about, at SXSWi this year), the fact that any blog talking about fucking, masturbation and orgasms managed to get in the back door (ooh-er, missus) of the Bloggies and win, and was covered in the mainstream press all across the globe as well as featuring on NBC News in the USA, is still something to be celebrated, I think.

One day sex writing will be fully included – and valued – within the web community. We’re all making positive steps in that direction, I think, but time will tell…

Feel free to blow your own trumpet — that’s awesome! And thanks for the correction — I feel kinda dumb for not knowing that.

Heh, no problem. I am happy to remind people. Day-in-day-out. Ahem.

With regards to a Best Sexblog award at the Bloggies, Nikolai said he was absolutely open to suggestions for new categories in next year’s awards; he recommended that emails be sent to him asking that it be included and that the more requests he received, the better.

Perhaps Boinkology could get involved in some way in making this happen? Not necessarily by creating a petition, but perhaps a group list, asking that it be included? Every little helps…
