A Romantic Getaway For The Eco-Conscious

Looking for a nice place to take that special someone? Perhaps one that’s self-sustaining? Allow us to recommend the Chena Hot Springs Resort in Alaska. The hot springs heat the resort, generate its electricity, and cools its amazing ice bar — talk about multitasking!

The resort’s all-inclusive romantic package includes an overnight stay in the recently redecorated Moose Lodge, hot spring passes, dinner and breakfast for two, a welcome champagne basket, and a late check-out.

For some reason The Today Show sent Lester Holt, who somehow went all the way there and didn’t even get in the hot springs once.

The resort also features dog sled tours and an “aurorium” built to provide winter indoor views of the northern lights during the winter. If I didn’t feel so guilty about the carbon footprint created by flying to Alaska, I just might consider going.
