We all know that texting can be a valuable tool in building a relationship. But did you know it could also be used to send your boyfriend or girlfriend n00dz? CNN exposes a dangerous new trend plaguing high schools across the country: ’sexting’.
When I was in high school do you have any idea what it took to get a nude photo of anyone?
Back in the mid 90’s, we didn’t have fancy digital cameras. In fact, we most likely didn’t even own cameras ourselves. And it must have been a pain for anyone trying to get their nudie pix developed, especially if anyone involved was underage…
Even now, I’m nearly 30 years old and my stupid iPhone can’t send a picture message!

Is this really limited to high schoolers? Adults need to be getting in on this action. I want people sending nude photos to my phone!!! Well…as long as they’re hot.
May 5th, 2008 at 6:39 pmANOMIE: Old people don’t tend to do it as much because they have a hard enough time trying to figure out the basic functions of their phones. I think the only reason this is even newsworthy to CNN is that underage kids sending nude photos back and forth is/could be illegal and even the parents could be responsible if they know it’s going on.
It’s very sad but it leads me to my next idea, a user submitted email address where people can send their n00dz to a Tumblr. I’m getting David Karp on the phone immediately!
May 5th, 2008 at 6:43 pmActually, the part where the law gets involved is particularly newsworthy. There have actually been instances in which underage kids were charged with sex offenses for sending their underage love interests n00dsz of themselves.
Ridiculousness.
May 5th, 2008 at 6:48 pmANOMIE: But they can have sex with each other right? If both are underage and consenting?
May 5th, 2008 at 6:49 pmNot always, no. But I think they’re usually allowed to have sex with one another, just not document it or anything remotely alluding to it. Cuz then it’s child pornography.
May 5th, 2008 at 6:59 pmThe logic of sexx laws as Beck would say.
I’m 22 and that puts this ahead of of where things where for me in highschool. Cheap digicams were just coming on to the scene then and even those caused problems. Cellphones put the distribution client, storage medium, and tool of photography all into one sleek clamshell package.
I wonder how effective at stopping this sending copies of all photos sent with statements would be?
May 5th, 2008 at 7:42 pmWell, MMS messages don’t exist with unlimited plans like texts (SMS) do. Verizon charges you 25 cents a pic, so I’m sure they love this
May 5th, 2008 at 7:57 pmIt would be interesting comparing kbs of n00dz pics received and GPA scores.
kbs vs popularity, etc.
Hmmmm Richard richard, you shouldnt feel old. Imagine yourself at that age, having to struggle with either no pics or pics induced compulsive masturbation. Did you really need more stimulus?
