How do you win over a tired, jaded boinkologist? By mentioning polygamy, duh!
This week’s award goes to newcomer Piggythewonderdog, who offered this analogy in response to Blakeley’s musings about power, gender, and infidelity:
Analogy to the polygamy case in Texas: In every society throughout history that practices polygamy, it’s always been rich powerful men who acquire multiple wives (concubines). The FLDS polygamists are always MEN who end up having multiple wives, never the other way around. Is there a single female polygamist in that Texas compound? No way.
Hillary + hypothetical boy-toy interns = instant ex-First-Lady
Mormon sect female + hypothetical male concubines = instant excommunicationBill + female intern = infidelity that’s ultimately forgiven
Mormon sect male leaders + young girls = polygamy & child rape that’s still difficult to prosecuteSo to me, Hilary is very much in the same boat as those pathetic women in pioneer dresses who perpetuate the double-standard. Sad but true.
Well put! To reward you, we’re presenting you with a (prevent-a-)family pack of condoms. There’s enough in there for all your wives. Or husbands. Or both. Whatever.

May 9th, 2008 at 1:06 pmThanks Boinkology! The analogy came to me when I realized that Eliot Spitzer’s wife had the same glazed-over look in her eyes as the FLDS wives…
BTW: “Piggythewonderdog” is my beloved French Bulldog… And she too much of a diva to be polygamous.
