A friendly reminder for all the ladies: drinking too much can make you ugly! And give you manhands! And we all know — no one likes manhands!
What a brilliant campaign! After all, the surest way to get ladies to act proper is to tell them that misbehaving will make them ugly. God, is there anything worse for a woman?
Of course, the guys don’t have to worry: ladies will still love you if you’re ugly. Just make sure that bankroll is fat (or, failing that, make sure your junk is!).
Man, it’s so nice to see an anti-drinking campaign that really knows where women’s priorities lay. You can shut up about our livers — just remind us what’ll happen to our looks!
(Oh, and let’s not even touch this assumption that “looking like a man” is somehow automatically a bad thing…)

WTF WTF WTF WTF!!!!! This is sooooooo many shades of wrong and wrong-minded. Were they trying to see how many systems of oppression they could use to “advance their cause”…er, I mean, make themselves look like total bigoted idiots?
Of course, beauty is the answer for everything…the motivation for everything women are supposed to do. Fuck your health. Fuck your liver. Intangible..who gives a damn. Who values their liver? No….use threats that we will look socially unacceptable…we will lose our looks, the only thing that indicated our worth anyway. Fuck all of that shit.
And obviously they don’t care about people who may already look similar to that photo. Yeah, fuck them. Fuck “ugly” people. Fuck women who “look like men”. They’re already fucked, so they can drink up!

Aside from the excellent points made above by Lux and Withoutscene about the blatant sexism of the ad, there’s the other point: it’s a total and complete waste of time and money. Does anyone who makes these ads actually spend any time around someone with a real drug or alcohol problem? Seriously, would it kill someone involved in this process to just pop into a couple of AA or NA meetings just to get…I don’t know…the slightest fragment of a clue about the addictions they’re supposed to be combating.
Aside from insulting women with this ad, it also just shows a basic lack of understanding…yeah, alcoholics in their disease hit their wives, neglect and abuse their children, create chaos in the lives all those they love, occasionally kill themselves and others in car accidents or good old-fashioned bar fights, and, oh yeah, destroy their livers and other internal organs. But, yeah, wrinkles and laugh lines…that’ll “sober” them up!
It’s a close call, but I actually think this ad is even more worthless than the “teen meth whore” one you guys flagged a few months ago.
