Facebook: No More Random Play

Facebook used to be a wild and crazy party town, where — in addition to staid things like “dating” and “a relationship” — you could seek out hot and heavy NSA action in the form of “random play” and “whatever I can get.” But no longer!

What used to be the case for the over 30 set is now the case for everyone (except perhaps those who’d already selected for random play and WICG). What gives? Is this all a part of Facebook’s plan to grow up and act like a real company?

And if so, what next — will they take away our “It’s complicated”?

I’m pretty sure “random play” is simply meant to refer to any sort of play that is random, and nothing necessarily related to relationships or “fuck buddies”. After all, it is an option under “Looking For”, and “Looking For” does not necessarily refer to relationships.

I always thought “random play” referred to theater, as in, will it be Beckett or Shakespeare?
