SUBMITTED BY TWENTYSOMETHING TALES: The words “gas” and “sex” are terms rarely associated with one another (though it depends what kinky stuff you’re in to). But with the economy’s rapidly rising gas costs, the two become linked closer, as the sex industry is finding itself susceptible to financial decline.

According to the Nevada Brothel Owners’ Association, revenue is down as much as 45 percent. As gasoline prices increase, buyers of sex (brothels are legal in the state) are less likely to spend the extra cash on the dirty detour.

Brothels in more rural areas are taking the hardest hit, as 60 percent of their business comes from truckers.

As a marketing tactic, brothels like the Shady Lady Ranch are offering customers gas gift certificates. Buy $300 worth of time, get a $50 gas card.

The promotion starts July 1, after which point bordellos will see if truckers chose to get serviced at the station…or at the ranch.
