Porn stars have a lot of sex, so they must know a lot about sex, right? Really, who better to author a sex ed column than a porn star? Surely, nothing could possibly go wrong with that idea!
Okay, granted, we know very little about Casey Parker, so it’s entirely possible that she’s a very intelligent, well-informed sex educator and that her column will be totally awesome. But we’re sorta over the whole “You work in sex, therefore you must know everything about it” mentality — if you want someone to give smart sex advice, get someone trained in sex education.
Let’s just hope this turns out better than Joanna Angel’s ill-fated column for Spin.

Years ago a friend of mine wanted to learn how to cross-country ski and so she asked a friend who’d been skiing literally since she learned to walk (her mom and dad were avid outdoor/mountaineer types.)
Anyway, she took my friend about a mile up Mount Rainier here in Washington State, said “this looks like a good place to start, now follow me” …and powered 100 feet down a near-vertical drop… just like she’d been doing pretty much since she learned how to walk!
The point being that even if what porn stars do is anything like what regular people typically enjoy (most people like, say, actual lubrication and some kind of contact with the clitoris) it’s still not necessarily the case they’re the best suited to teach beginners how to do it.
But as you say if she’s got actual experience teaching sex-ed it could be pretty cool. Otherwise… not so much.
