You’ve probably heard the line about how sex burns calories (it always seems to work its way into those “sex is good for you!” articles that pop up every few months). But if sex is actually a good workout, how do you explain Ron Jeremy? How many calories does sex actually burn?
Well, according to our friends over at Daily Bedpost, not very many. But hey, every little bit helps, right?

[...] How many calories does sex actually burn? [...]
July 9th, 2008 at 12:42 pmIt’s a popular thing to add into sex articles because people are obsessed with calories and getting thinner. Therefore, anything that could potentially make you thinner is considered a perk. So any time anyone can invoke the “weight loss” frame, they will. It’s the same reason people say the upside of getting the flu is that they lost ten pounds…the same reason people dying of cancer get complimented on their weight loss.
This also occurs because both food and sex are considered pleasurable, sinful, and bodily desires to be disciplined. If by partaking in sexual pleasure, you are also disciplining your body (by burning calories), it’s like the pleasure/guilt conundrum evens out.

Oh totally. I always wonder why the fact that sex is so incredibly awesome isn’t enough reason. Like, why does it have to make me skinny too? AREN’T ORGASMS ENOUGH???
July 9th, 2008 at 4:05 pmI have heard that thirty minutes of sex is enquivalent to 3 hours of walking. Not only is it amazing, but it also burns calories like crazy.
