We’ve talked before about how women in movies end up surprise! pregnant, with no real explanation of how they got knocked up (frankly, when I have unprotected sex that might lead to an unplanned pregnancy, I remember it). Well, it seems we’re not the only ones who wish that movies might depict women as being a wee bit more educated and aware about their birth control options: The Frisky has a piece on (the complete absence of) Plan B in the movies. Granted, they’re talking about movies that depict young women — who, in real life, require a prescription to get Plan B (you have to be 18+ to get it over the counter), and probably aren’t necessarily aware of where they can go to get it cheaply and easily — so the movies may actually be more real than we’d like to think.
But hey: movies are fantasy, right? Can’t we have a fantasy of an educated teenager who goes to her mom to ask for a trip to the doctor to get a prescription for Plan B? Cause that would be pretty awesome (and inspirational!).

That would be a really short movie. Unless the bulk of the screen time was taken up by the conception…
