Going through a pregnancy termination is never easy, even if you have all the information and a ton of support from friends, family, and loved ones. And if you don’t, well… let’s just say that “difficult” is a bit of an understatement.
There’s a lot of information out there about abortion — but not all of it is that great (okay, a great deal of it is terrible). And because of the stigma surrounding the procedure, finding honest, personal accounts of what it’s like to go through the process isn’t always easy. But we’re hoping that that’s starting to change: at the very least, we now know of one twenty-three year old who’s blogging tumbling the process of getting an abortion.
In a series of short posts (it is a Tumblr, after all), the anonymous termination seeker tackles all the questions you didn’t know you had: chemical or surgical? Will insurance cover an abortion? What’s Planned Parenthood really like? Should you tell your parents about your termination? Obviously, the answers provided won’t apply to everyone (it’s a personal blog, not a reference manual) — but hey, hopefully others will be inspired to share their own stories and create an even richer tapestry of tales of termination.
And hey, even if they don’t, at least we have this one blog. Gotta start somewhere, right?
[And if you are looking for an abortion reference manual, we recommend Planned Parenthood and Go Ask Alice.]
